RBC Sport builds their custom shoes from a plaster cast of your feet to your specifications including color, cleat positioning, closure style.
Plaster casts of your feet are made to use as the die to make your shoes Full Kevlar construction. Full heat set, vacuum formed carbon fiber shell that is constructed directly over your cast. The shell covers your entire heel and travels along your arch to help stop pronation during the power stroke of the pedal cycle.

Monocoque carbon sole
RBC’s sole construction is assembled layer by layer like no other, utilizing a Nano modified epoxy preimpregnated into high modulus Carbon Fibre for ultimate rigidity and repeatability. The carbon layers on the sole are vacuum formed under heat around the cast made of your foot, Using only a small amount of padding in the arch and the top of the heel this carbon cradle for your foot gives you unparalleled comfort. When delivering power, not having to compress padding in the forefoot gives you an instant advantage over any shoes using a post production innersole.
Orthopaedic contour control
A full Carbon arch and heel pocket allows the shoe to stabilize and cradle your feet. This gives you a major increase in comfort and power by preventing you from pronating or supernating your feet as you load up the pedal every revolution. The heel pocket also prevents your foot from leaving the base of the shoe during the upstroke.

All internal padding in RBC shoes is a closed cell surgical padding that carries a 99% lifetime memory rebound. This padding is firm and very hard to fully compress which makes it a perfect match to use as the interface between your foot and the carbon cradle. The padding is used sparingly used in every shoe as the orthopaedic shape of the shoe is ultra comfortable alone. We only use padding as a safety measure where there is a possibility of an irritation of a bone or previous injury
For closure on a road or endurance shoe all of us at RBC believe that you can not go past the nylon webbing reinforced Velcro straps for reliability and ease of use. You also have the choices of buckles, laces and pull toggle laces as well.
Combining the closures with the non stretch Kevlar sandwiched between the layers, means that when you pull up on the pedal it is instant power delivery. No having to preload and stretch the upper by curling your toes or tensing your foot. Simply said using RBC Shoes your feet will not move up or down due to the shoe stretching. This gives you a double gain not only gaining power by removing the stretch in the upper but also keeping your foot in constant contact with the sole of the shoe no matter how hard you pull up on the pedal.
A simple equation for you to try when your foot leaves
the sole of the shoe even by 1 mm:
Example: At 100rpm your foot may leave the shoe sole by 0.5mm 2 times per revolution near the top and base of the stroke. Multiply this by 2 to include your other foot. Then include the time you ride for, in this exercise we will say 5 minutes
100rpm x (0.5mmx2 top and base of the stroke x2feet) x 5 minutes=1000mm of extra distance travelled in your shoe in only 5 minutes
The Zenith Road Shoe is designed for least wind resistance.
- Low profile rounded frontal area is dependent on the thickness of your toes.
- The one piece upper with lace cover has all joins and stitching blended into the shoe so to give clean air flow over and around the foot
- The Closure system is kept as low to the shoe as possible/
- The walk pads are also profiled and blended into the shoe so to not interrupt airflow.
- Thin firm gripping ankle line allows minimal disruption of airflow
Strength & Weight
The Zenith is unbelievably light for its impressive strength with the average size 8 shoe weighing a mere 230grams. Gram for gram all RBC shoes are by far the strongest available anywhere.
If you decide that you want to have an even better advantage over your opponents you can choose to have RBC clone and store your casts and digitally store your patterns and specifications. By doing this RBC has the ability to make clones of the original shoes right down to the angles.
By choosing to clone the casts you can also refine the fit by the millimetre, you may want to lower or raise the toe box, alter length, width, more cleat angle, less cleat angle, tighten the heel fit and so on in your next pair. Whatever you choose to change the rest will remain the same making changing from pair to pair smooth and easy.
While the Zenith's design may look plain it is this simplicity that makes the Zenith so complicated to make. Removing all but a small amount of padding, making the upper 1 piece and lowering the closure system challenged every skill we have as designers and makers. These shoes will give you a performance advantage over any athletes that do not have them.
